Driven by their passion and unwavering mastery, each generation of the Brugal family Maestro Roneros has enriched the art of rum making, leaving behind a legacy that endures through the ages. And today’s fifth generation is no exception. Brugal’s Fifth Generation Maestra Ronera, Jassil Villanueva Quintana, created a "moment perfect" rum with a new exclusive toasting technique – completely unique to Brugal, called Dark Aromatic Toasting. This new toasting technique requires precision to create a rum that is smooth, well-rounded and complex and without any added sugars or additives. The rum is first aged in premium American oak Sherry casks. The casks are then emptied and the rum carefully put aside. This special selection of casks are then immediately toasted to a precise moment to expertly extract the natural caramel pearls drawn from the sugars in the wood. The combination of wood and fire create these perfectly formed caramel pearls. The casks are then re-filled with rum before being carefully aged under the Dominican sun to form the complexity and one-of-a-kind taste of Maestro Reserva.
